why book a fundraising event

its strange times at the moment with covid-19 we haven't done a show of any sort since the 15th march. And I've never wrote a blog but with time on my hands I have started taking a look at my business and started to improve my online presence. ill give you a small insight in to what total fundraising events do and how we started.

in 2010 a brand new show called take me out hit tv screens with a bang seeing this I thought this would be fantastic for local clubs to book having sang in bands and doing my comedy hypnosis show I had a great insight to entertainment and fundraising events. so I went about building a set. needless to say this was a huge success and the show continues to be one of the most booked fundraisers we have. total fundraising events have went from strength to strength adding more fundraising events each year.

at the time a lot of the success was due to the 2008 financial crisis. where a lot of the clubs, societies and organizations we where aiming to deliver fundraising events for didn't have the big building firms or people donating  them Money so they had to find ways of raising money. this was great for us.

a thing that I believe was a massive help to us at the time and still is today is that we do everything in house and don't have to hire other companies or individuals to come along and help us we normally work in a small team of 2 to 3 people for any fundraising event. This has kept costs down where competitors couldn't as they had to book a compere or a DJ after the show or hire audio visual equipment ect.

in more recent years of course their was a downturn on fundraising events. and this was to do with a lot of factors from the clubs maybe not having the man power or the whole thing being left to one person to sort out, and of course the club lottos that meant the clubs could get the money a lot easier than before. I suppose also with their being a bit of money around donations have also helped the whole thing along for charities and clubs a like.

so you might ask why bother with a fundraising event. is it more hassle than its worth. well talking to people on the phone before this covid-19 came about I thought so myself and didn't really push to hard at the fundraising events always got around 10-15 a year and was happy enough. but over the last week or so I've become a bit more passionate towards this side of my business.

I was standing outside the chip shop in my small village the other week their was around 4 to 5 others their also. of course with the times where in nobody could go in to the chip shop so we waited outside. everyone talking to each other and having the craic of course while keeping 2 metres apart. when one man said if this was all normal and no covid-19 we would be all standing inside the chip shop and nobody would be talking to each other like we where. incase your wondering I had chicken tenders and a chips cheese and taco it was lovely.

But It was the comment that hit me nobody would be talking and it would be very boring with no craic. and it made me think in times like this community sprit is great everyone helping everyone out. their is no doubt when all this is lifted that donations to charities will be down and of course the local clubs will struggle to find funding due to a lot of the big companies not having the spare cash for a while.

They might even look at companies like us and say this could help us raise some cash. but something else that I realized was it isn't just about raising money for your charity or your club its about bringing people together and building your brand awareness and creating more interest in your cause wethers its a local football team or a charity. ask yourself this question are you getting out in your community? are you getting interest from new members or donations from new companies?

I believe part of this is due to us all just sailing along and happy that we don't have to do that bit extra. but when all this is lifted maybe it will be the time to have an event to get your brand out in communities and bring new people to see what use have to offer a fundraising event is much more than just earning a few bob its about giving people something to remember and bringing awareness of what you do or offer.

thanks for taking the time to read my first blog post hopefully ill do a lot more. take care and stay safe
